Let’s zoom in for a close up
Steve Hix, Owner,
The Video Refinery
I have been refining my own story for years. With a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Michigan and a master’s from Florida State University, my career began in music. Over the years, I have played in numerous bands and orchestras, taught music at the college level and grade school level, and worked as a project manager in the corporate world.
All my talents come together with The Video Refinery, as I can shoot, score, mix and edit. As an independent with less overhead than most production houses, I am able to provide audio and video production services at an affordable cost for everyday people and small businesses. I deliver quality work. Quick turnarounds. And friendly, personal service. Refining my craft for optimum satisfaction.
Over the years, I have created a wide variety of videos ranging from business videos (promotional, product launch, training.) to music recordings (stage recording, small venue, live streaming). My success in these various genres is due to my ability to work with my clients to get the results they need. This ranges from simple shoots with simple edits to full productions with multiple lighting, lav and external mics, a teleprompter, off-line voice-over recording and editing, special effects, music bed, embedded animated photos, etc. I use a Sony PXW-Z150 camcorder (4K) with slow motion and live streaming capabilities. I have a 2nd Canon HD camcorder if multi-angle shots are desired. I also have a Canon DSRL for high resolution stills. I use the full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and am proficient in PremierePro, Photoshop, and AfterEffects. Yes, I am a bit of a tech geek. But I am also a nice guy. I make the process easy.
